Description

The box division method is a great alternative to long-division. These box method division worksheets are a no-prep resource to help students familiarize themselves with the box division model. Help students build confidence with this step-by-step guide and a set of eight worksheets!

Using the box method for division is much easier than using the long-division algorithm, even though the steps are the same (I often call it 'wide division' in my class). The boxes make it easier for students to see which step comes next.

This set of box method division worksheets includes:

  • A step-by-step guide explaining how to use the box method for division
  • 8 pages of worksheets for students to practice the box division method
    • 2 pages of three-digit by one-digit division with no remainders
    • 2 pages of three-digit by one-digit division with remainders/decimals
    • 2 pages of three-digit by two-digit division with no remainders
    • 2 pages of three-digit by two-digit division with remainders/decimals
  • An answer key
