Box Study Activities MINI-BUNDLE: Adapted Books, File Folders & Class Book

Are you looking for some new activities for your Box Study or Theme in your early childhood classroom? Then this mini-bundle of hands-on activities is perfect for your students. These activities can be used at circle time, math/literacy centers, independent work or small groups. Students will learn about boxes and practice pre-academic math, literacy and language concepts.

What's Included: 2 Adapted Books, Class Book & 7 File Folder Activities

Activity 1: 2 Adapted Books

  • Adapted Book: Kinds of Boxes (color) The carrier phrase "We use..." is used on each page, along with the use of each kind of box. Students will match the boxes on each page.
    • 10 Matching Pieces: cardboard box, cereal box, juice box, tool box, toy box, lunch box, pizza box, shoe box, tissue box, medical box/first aid box

  • Adapted Book: How many Boxes? (color) Practice counting different kinds of boxes from 1-10. Students will match the number on each page.
    • 10 Matching Pieces: numbers 1-10

Activity 2: Class Book: Not a Box

This imagination drawing class book is a fun activity to complete during a building or construction theme. This activity will spark students imaginations and get them to create something new out of a box shape. Each student completes a page of the book, when put together you will have a new book for your library. There are different options included so you can differentiate for all learners.

  • Students will:
    • write their name
    • use a square or rectangle template to create something using their imagination. It's not a box, it's a computer! It's not a box, it's a rocket!
    • draw their own box and creation

Activity 3: Box Themed File Folders

7 File Folders Included:

  • Color Match: Match the lids on the gift boxes by color.
  • Color Sort: Sort the gift boxes/presents into 4 color groups.
  • Box Sort: Sort the boxes into 4 groups for the construction worker, mail carrier, pizza delivery, and boy eating breakfast.
  • Match Numbers 1-10: Match the teddy bears in each box 1-10.
  • Box Size Sort: Sort boxes into groups of little and big.
  • Which box does it go in? Match 10 objects into the correct box.
    • Example: The hammer goes in the toolbox.
    • Example: The sandwich goes in lunch box.

  • Errorless: Deliver the boxes into the mailbox or mail truck.

Printing

Adapted Books and File Folders print in color only.

The class book pages print in black and white only.
