Description

Help children build emotional awareness, executive functioning skills, and self-reflection with this engaging brain-themed emotions and regulation toolkit! “My Brain Is Feeling…” is designed to help students identify how their brain is feeling in the moment using kid-friendly visuals and supportive language that encourages communication, self-awareness, and emotional regulation. This resource includes an “Emotions Bank” featuring a variety of brain states such as focused, motivated, confused, distracted, tired, anxious, overwhelmed, frustrated, calm, stuck, embarrassed, and more.

These visuals are especially helpful for students who struggle with executive functioning, emotional regulation, interoception, task initiation, or communicating internal feelings. The brain-themed format provides a non-shaming and approachable way to discuss emotions, attention, stress, motivation, and energy levels. Students can use the visuals during check-ins, counseling sessions, calm corner routines, therapy sessions, classroom discussions, or throughout daily routines to build stronger self-monitoring and emotional identification skills.

This toolkit works well in special education classrooms, counseling offices, autism support programs, SEL lessons, therapy settings, and home environments. The cohesive visual style and simple language make the resource both engaging and easy to use for a wide range of ages and support needs. This resource also pairs well with executive functioning lessons on regulation strategies, getting unstuck, growth mindset, comfort vs. growth choices, and self-management skills.
