Description

*****I wanted to keep this a doc so people could edit it themselves but the pages look weird in the preview. The margins are narrow and the numbers like this (1) signify the top of a page***********

My 7th and 8th graders completed this assignment at the end of the year. The project has enough examples and work for students to mostly work independently for 2 weeks or more. Students review percents, exponents, order of operations, simplifying expressions, building equations, linear equations, Pythagorean thm,, proportions. Each section is easily differentiated.

Students utilize a California-based website where they evaluate the lifestyle they would love to have when they graduate from College. The site helps students see how many years they will need in College and what the average Salary is in California. (For out of California people I would just pitch it as your students starting their "adult" lives in California)

While completing this assignment, I was amazed how shocked students were by how much life can cost. This sparked good discussions about saving money, politics around student loans, a really great assignment.

****** Message me if interested in 5 question test that has the number altered 35 times (so every student has different values with which to work) with matching excel-sheet answer key that can be used to evaluate understanding ******
