Description

This is a great end of year project for Math students. Students are given a glimpse of what it is like to have job, buy a home, buy a car, shop for food, and manage a monthly budget.

There are many real life projects out there but this one gives students the freedom to research an occupation, home, car and shop for food using internet resources. So instead of giving students a stack of cards to choose from, I have created a project that allows for more ownership.

Students will go to the following sites to gather information:

  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Zillow
  • Cars.com
  • Walmart

In addition to online research, students will be asked to respond to journal prompts and reflect at the end of the project.

I have also attached bonus blank pages for you to tailor the project to your needs!

There are so many ways you can tackle this project in your classroom and I hope you make it your own! Financial Literacy for students is such a wonderful topic to expose our students too. It will create a lasting impression and hopefully give our students useful tools when they head out to the real world.
