Description

Help your students gain counting practice and accuracy as they discover "How Many Bugs?" are in each bug jar. Watch your students build 1 to 1 correspondence, counting, cardinality, number sense, and number recognition with this fun hands-on math activity.

Use included printable bug coins to count and increase fun & engagement!

This hands-on math activity will help student

to develop the following math skills:

- Counting accuracy

- 1 to 1 correspondence

- Cardinality - Understanding of the quantity of objects in a given set.

- Recognize numerals

- Number Sense -Associating a numeral with the corresponding quantity.

Included in this Resource:

  • 2 sets of 1-10 counting mats (8 1/2 x 11 inch and approx. 7 x 10 inches)
  • For smaller sized mats, print 2 on a page.

Suggested Uses:

  • Use with small math counters, like rubber bugs, pompoms, or paper bugs. (included)
  • Student can also use playdough as counters (Roll into small balls to make bugs) then form the number and word with playdough for a great fine motor strengthening activity.
  • Have students use counters to count how many bugs are in each bug jar. Match the counters on each bug in the jar, then slide them into the five or ten frame to count.
  • Use this activity to build 1 to 1 correspondence, counting skills, number sense, and fine motor skill
