Engage your students with fun, silly bugs as they practice patterning skills! This printable features five pattern cards with matching bug visuals to finish each pattern. Four ABAB patterns with size and color, and one AAB pattern are included in the packet. Use as a small group activity, an independent work packet, or as a task box in your classroom!
To use, print out the pages and laminate. Then, cut each page along the solid black line. Cut out the boxes with the bugs, add velcro, and match to finish each pattern. To make a booklet, punch a hole in the top left corner and add a binder ring to keep all the pages together.
Practicing patterns with simple manipulatives seemed to bore my students. When I created pattern objects based on the unit we were learning about, they suddenly loved patterning (and talking about the bugs, too!)
