Description

Students start by entering their name so it appears on the screen at all times. This simulation is great for getting used to naming/writing ionic compounds. The simulation allows for a variety of settings to vary the difficulty level. This includes allowing/not allow polyatomic ions, transition metals, and toggling if the charges are provided or not. In the simulation students drag the ions (with the charges shown or not shown) to build the compound that is asked of them. Once they feel they have it built, they can have their answer checked and will be informed if they are correct or incorrect. There is an additional tab where students can review the compounds they have created. As an added bonus, it tracks their longest streak which adds a fun, competitive side to it for students they may go for a “high score.”
