Description

This PowerPoint contains some animated drawings to explain how to conduct building searches and deal with stairwells. The lesson will cover the basics of building searches and officer safety ideas, along communication, approaches, threshold evaluation, doorway entry, team formation, and basics of room clearing. Key vocabulary includes slicing the pie, chunking, fatal funnel, crisscross entry, buttonhook entry. I did not want to get too specific with high school students due to officer tactics that are currently used. I put together some of the most basic points on how a/n officer(s) conducts a building search. The notes are filled out and I want the teacher to figure out what they feel are the important points of the lesson. I’ve put together a product package of quiz/review, exam, practical rubric for practicing during or after the lesson. Feel free to modify as you see fit.
