Bullying Discussion Guide & Activities

These activities can be used during National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, as part of a health curriculum, or to tie into a unit on bullying, differences, or tolerance.

The discussion guide will help students begin to think about and discuss myths and misconceptions surrounding bullying. Students will take a stance on a set of statements before discussing in a small group and reporting out to the whole class. Students will reflect on the discussion and return to these statements at the end of the discussion to see if their opinions have changed. After viewing "To This Day," a spoken word piece on bullying, students will complete a free write and then write their own poem on a similar topic. Finally, students will examine a series of public service announcements to identify audience and purpose and evaluate the effectiveness of their messages.

Included:

*Set of debatable statements

*Discussion directions

*Discussion reflection questions

*Writing activity directions and handouts

*Public service announcement handout

*Links to articles and videos

*Usage guide

*Digital usage guide for Google Classroom and other online learning management systems

*Common Core alignment

Great resource! Will use again with my advisory group. The students appreciated it and the time to discuss and address their concerns outside of academics and content material. Thanks!

This is the perfect resource to teach the importance of anti bullying. We had Anti Bullying this week and this really helped me and the students really enjoyed it.
