Description
APUSH digital interactive notebooks allows AP United States History students to use historical thinking skills to develop an understanding of US History. This bundle provides videos and focused writing activities using key concepts and learning objectives to help students develop critical historical thinking skills. Great for sub plans, absent students, exam review or as a year long digital notebook.
Students will develop AP Historical Thinking Skills by:
- Identifying and describing a claim and/or argument
- Identifying the evidence used in a source to support an argument.
- Comparing the arguments or main ideas of two sources.
- Explaining how claims or evidence support, modify, or refute an argument.
Each unit long activity workbook requires students to describe and explain evidence using key concepts and learning objects straight from the course and exam description. It also provides YouTube videos for students to supplement textbook readings with.
Units:
- Period 1: 1491-1607
- Period 2: 1607-1754
- Period 3: 1754-1800
- Period 4: 1800-1848
- Period 5: 1844-1877
- Period 6: 1865-1898
- Period 7: 1890-1945
- Period 8: 1945-1980
- Period 9: 1980-Present
Are students losing motivation to read the textbook every night as the year goes on? Are you struggling to finish everything in the AP United States History CED this year? Are your students looking for some EXTRA to study with? Are some students missing a lot of class time or completely learning online?
This interactive digital workbook is just what you are looking for. For each topic of the unit, students will first be asked to define, state the significance of, and list people associated with key terms for the topic of the unit. They are then provided with a curated selection of YouTube videos focusing on each key development of the topic. Following closely to the CED I have developed short writing activities in which students will be required to support a claim using evidence gained from the chapter. The cumulating activity to ensure understanding of the topic is a written response to the learning objective of the unit.
This activity helps engrain key skills that will benefit students on all writing portions of the AP exam! Writing is critical for success on the exam!
Is this a group or individual activity?
- This activity works best as an individual assignment and a supplement/alternative to textbook readings. Helpful for students who are gone for multiple days and can't catch up.
When do you do this activity?
- I have assigned this as a unit long assignment, which students complete each day after assigned textbook readings. I have also used it as a review lesson before unit tests.
Is there an answer key?
- The great thing about this activity is that every student will use different specific evidence to complete their writing responses and that is ok! What is important is that they have explained what they have learned using evidence from the unit.
