This back to school bundle provides 3 easy and engaging ways to welcome your middle school math students at the beginning of the year, foster a growth mindset and help create community and collaboration in your math class.
- NEW SCHOOL YEAR ACTIVITIES:
Use the Back to school after summer or after winter break reflection and goal setting activities to open up discussions about self-improvement and new year resolutions with your middle grade math students. This include an icebreaker, a personality quiz as well an all about me math activity. For the new calendar year, a reflection and goal setting activity is also included.
- RANDOM GROUPING CARDS:
Use the random grouping cards to create a collaborative learning environment all year long. These 36 printable random grouping cards provide math teachers with 5 different ways to sort students into random small groups, which research has shown in the book Building Thinking Classrooms help promote student learning.
Each of the 36 student cards has 5 elements that students may be grouped by (color, shape, math symbol, letter or number) and there are 12 full sized cards that can be hung on the classroom wall to indicate locations for the small groups. These were made to use in secondary math class but could also be used for any subject or grade level.
- GROWTH MINDSET POSTERS:
Decorate to motivate with neutral themed black and white mini posters. Positive and pithy statements for math students help foster a growth mindset in your classroom. Their standard print page size is great for a bulletin board.
