Description
Practice a variety of standards with these shapely butterfly puzzles, which help reinforce sequencing numbers, counting from 1-10, 11-20, as well as counting backwards from 10-1, plus skip counting by 2s, 3s, 5s, and 10s.
I've also included a set of alphabet letter puzzles as well. (Aa-Jj, Kk-Tt, Qq-Zz)
Choose which puzzles are appropriate for your students.
Teacher Comment:
- "Simply effective for teachers and students to make!"
Print on a variety of colors of construction paper or card stock.
Trim and keep in their own Ziplock Baggie in your math & alphabet centers.
I've also included a blank grid so you can program with more numbers, and younger children can use this as a base grid, to place the puzzle strips on.
Children choose one and put it together.
They can also pick a partner and play “Speed” to see which one can put their puzzle together first.
Besides using these as a center activity, run off copies for your students to make their own puzzles.
They pick a color, trace and write the numbers or letters, then cut on the lines to make a puzzle.
After putting their own together, they can swap with a partner and assemble theirs.
Afterwards, have children glue their butterfly on a black or dark blue sheet of construction paper, leaving a small gap in-between each piece, to create a cool mosaic effect.
Completed projects make a colorful spring bulletin board.
I've included 3 "We're All A Flutter" posters to use as the center of your display.
I'm Diane from Teach With Me, hoping your students enjoy practicing counting and letter recognition with a shapely butterfly.
