Here's the Button Book for Initial /k/; get your fun going in the speech room!
The Button Books are a fun and successful solution I created (after years of trial and error) to keep students engaged in speech therapy by giving them simple sentences to say that, when said correctly, bring about action in another person. Each book is four pages long focused on one specific sound (like initial /k/).
These 100% interactive books teach the student to focus on and self-monitor his own productions of targeted speech sounds in a meaningful utterance. And, best of all, when the student produces his target sounds correctly, he gets to push the button at the bottom of the page, making the adult act out the words on the page. Fun and powerful as the student begins to understand that his intelligible words carry meaning!
The Button Books are short as most students can sustain a target for only a few trials before they begin to fail again. Plus, they are fun and amusing to students. Lack of carryover can be as simple as the student not having fun or having no interest.
In this download you will get:
*A book to work specifically on the initial /k/ sound.
*An Instruction page to send home with the Button Book for home practice.
All Button Books are Pdf to make it easy to download and print. Simply print, cut the pages in half, staple, and you have a Button Book!
