Description
This interactive, self-correcting Google slide bundle covers all first grade CCSS Math Standards for a year! Adventure stories with word problems that align to all strands of each topic for first grade: Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. Every slide has different pre-recorded audio that reads through the text written in the characters' speech bubbles. Four very large products loaded with eye-catching clipart and stories with word problems on each slide and then following slides takes you through the process of finding the solution to the problem. Each of these products will cover at least an entire math lesson for the day if not more as you discuss the strategies and the processes in finding the solutions. Designed to do as whole group on a Smart Board for in-person learning or through a shared screen on Zoom or Google meet, it is also designed to do independently with supports for struggling students through audio and visuals as an independent assignment, which can be assigned through the Google Classroom, Seesaw, or any other platform that will support a Google Slide Link. Slides are self-correcting. When students click the correct answer it will automatically take them to immediate, positive feedback and then progress them through the rest of the story and onto the next word problem. When they click an incorrect answer it will lead them to immediate feedback to try again and take them back to the word problem until the correct answer is selected.
Please note: This product MUST be shared in PRESENT MODE. To do this:
Change the word "edit" in the URL to "present." Copy that link and paste in Google Classroom, Seesaw, or any digital platform that you choose for students to receive their assignments. When students open the link, it will automatically be shared in "present mode."
Operations & Algebraic Thinking:
Meet Michaela! An adorable little girl ready to take you and your students on a math adventure in everyday life. This adventure takes you through a little girl's day from the morning until night and all of the encounters she has with math problems throughout her journey. Michaela takes you to various places in the community: school, the bakery, the post office, and all of the places in between before finally returning home with one more math problem with her mom. Each slide has word problems with pre-recorded audio that is set to be automatically read aloud for your struggling readers (you can edit this on your end to turn off audio). Michaela encounters a real life situation in each setting as well as on her way to each place. Each math problem then leads to visuals that offer strategies to assist in persevering through problem solving using mathematical tools such as ten frames, number bonds, organized pictures, and more. This product is mainly aligned with CCSS.1.OA (Operations and Algebraic Thinking) but touches upon other areas of Common Core in the math strands. Designed for middle to late first grade, this can also be great for older elementary grades or for Kindergarten with guidance. All of the problems focus on addition and subtraction from 0-20 with missing addends, subhends, sums, and differences.
Number & Operations in Base Ten:
Meet Katie! Katie is a little girl that will take you and your students on a math adventure in everyday life. This adventure takes you through a little girl's day on these interactive and self-correcting Google Slides and all of the math problems throughout her journey. Katie tells the story of getting ready for school and then brings us through her school day. Each slide has word problems with pre-recorded audio that is set to be automatically read aloud for your struggling readers (you can edit this on your end to turn off audio). Katie encounters a real life math problem that children can relate to in each setting at her home and at school. Each math problem then leads to visuals that offer strategies to assist in persevering through problem solving using mathematical tools for place value such as ten frames, organized pictures, base ten blocks, tally marks, and more! This product is mainly aligned with CCSS.1.NBT (Number & Operations in Base Ten) but also touches upon other areas of Common Core in the math strands. Designed for first grade, this can also be great for older elementary grades as a review or for Kindergarten with guidance. All of the problems focus on understanding of place value and address each of the standards in NBT including skip counting, representing a two digit number, comparing two digit numbers (with greater than, less than, or equal to), counting to 120, addition and subtraction of two digit numbers with base ten blocks, and mentally finding ten more and ten less than a number using the strategies taught in this product.
Measurement & Data:
Meet Anthony! A cute little boy ready to take you and your students on a math adventure in everyday life. This adventure takes you through a little boy's day on these interactive and self-correcting Google Slides and all of the math problems throughout his journey. Anthony tells the story of going with his dad to a baseball game, out for ice cream to celebrate the big win, and then to the park. Each slide has word problems with pre-recorded audio that is set to be automatically read aloud for your struggling readers (you can edit this on your end to turn off audio). Anthony encounters a real life math problem that children can relate to in each setting. Each math problem then leads to visuals that offer strategies to assist in persevering through problem solving using mathematical tools such as tables/charts, organized pictures, clocks (both digital and analog), nonstandard measurement visuals, tally marks, and pictographs. This product is mainly aligned with CCSS.1.MD (Measurement and Data) but touches upon other areas of Common Core in the math strands. Designed for first grade, this can also be great for older elementary grades or for Kindergarten with guidance. All of the problems focus on measurement and data including telling time, nonstandard units of measurement, comparing lengths, and how to read and interpret data on an organized chart.
Geometry:
Meet the team of little detectives! Four little kids playing detectives are going on a shape scavenger hunt with their dog Sniffer to hunt for shapes around their home and neighborhood. With slides that feature a look through binoculars to capture the shapes that surround us in everyday life! They also take photos, use their magnifying glasses, and document all of their findings through their notebooks just as real detectives do! The deck is full audio just as the other decks are but is more of an adventure story of their scavenger hunt as it not only teaches them about 2d and 3d shapes, but ways to observe them and classify them from their environment with familiar objects. Also touches upon positional words to describe the location of the shapes they find. After the story, is an interactive review of the identification of each shape discussed in the story by definition, examples, and visuals in the environment of home and neighborhood.
