Product Description
I do a lot of cooking in my classroom! When my students and I aren’t doing Science, we’re cooking! Cooking is not only an essential life skill, it is a great opportunity to teach students essential literacy and mathematical skills. Through cooking and working with recipes, students are exposed to reading, sequencing, following directions, measurement; and other mathematical operations, and they have fun while doing it! Cooking also serves as a fabulous way to get students writing.

This is not just an ordinary cooktbook. It is about getting students engaged in learning . With these 45+ timely and simple, kid-friendly recipes your students will practice sequencing, graphing, computation, measurement, and learn to write persuasive, opinion, and how-to paragraphs. Additionally, they will learn teamwork and basic cooking etiquette. Worksheets and activities are included that are designed to accompany any of the recipes and include:

Sequencing activities
Persuasive writing (2 options)
How to paragraph writing (2 options)
Opinion writing (2 options)
Writing a recipe
Graphic organizers
Making a shopping list
Graphing

A chef’s hat template is also included for your students to make and a recipe card they can use to color, copy the recipe, and take home to share with their family.

Recipes are coded for your convenience. The recipes that feature a girl require some cooking. Recipes that feature a boy require no cooking, Out of the 40+ recipes, there are 20+ that require NO cooking! Most of the others, only require a microwave. Cooking recipes are also coded with an oven or a microwave indicating which is needed. Seasonal recipes are also coded!
