CSI and Math Story BUNDLE: Use Math to solve these Mysteries!

Math Distance Learning with Google Classroom & Print Versions.

Your students will LOVE doing these. Great for upper elementary school students (primary) and middle school students also. 

Every activity in this pack now includes a print version and a google classroom version for distance learning with your students! The google classroom versions are google slides where your students can fill in editable textboxes and move images. These can be done on tablets but work best on laptops or Chromebooks.

This bundle pack contains a Math story and 5 CSI challenges.

1. CSI math adventure -Use math to eliminate suspects until you have found the bank robber. 

2. Mummy mystery adventure: Use math to defeat the mummy and get the treasure.

3. CSI Alien: Act as a galactic police commander to find out which Alien stole the deadly ray gun.

4. CSI Measurement Activity: Use math (area, volume, cardinal directions) to discover who the criminal was from a list of suspects.

5. CSI Pre-Algebra Activity: King Arthur: Who stole Excalibur? Use math to find out!

King Arthur needs your help! Someone has stolen Excalibur - and without it, his kingdom will fall into ruin.

6. CSI Fractions, decimals, and percentages. Gnome Quest - can you find the hero who will save the kingdom? 

A detailed description of each product in this bundle is below:

CSI Math Adventure:

Four clues are given to the students and each clue (worksheet) allows them to eliminate 1-2 suspects.

Clue 1/ Hidden multiplication message

Clue 2/ Map reading skills (tracking the criminals path)

Clue 3/ Time skills (who had enough time to commit the crime) 

Clue 4/ Simple adding of decimals.

Also includes 2 extension activities for early finishers

1/ Reward writing 

2/ Incoming Morse-code message

Egyptian Math Mystery

Great for adding onto an Egyptian unit - or simply use it as a fun math activity. There are four main puzzles to solve (plus 2 early finisher activities) so can be used all in one go or broken into parts.

Setting the scene: Read to students the provided passage then the students have to accomplish four tasks:

1/ Break the curse (by decoding a hieroglyphic message)

2/ Put the mummy to sleep (using multiplication)

3/ Take the treasure (basic algebra)

4/ Escape the labyrinth (odds/even maze)

Also included as early finisher activities:

5/ Write your name in hieroglyphics

6/ Writing Activity & design your own obelisk.

CSI Aliens

Four clues are given to the students and each clue (worksheet) allows them to eliminate 1-2 suspects.

Clue 1/ Hidden multiplication message

Clue 2/ Area activity (which alien has the space on their spaceship)

Clue 3/ Time skills (When did the aliens arrive to Earth) 

Clue 4/ Fractions (Which alien has the highest charge on their converter).

Pack also includes 2 extension activities for early finishers

1/ Maths number puzzle - find the ray gun. 

2/ Writing activity: Your spaceship journey.

CSI Measurement

Students have to use their math skills to eliminate suspects so they can find out who committed the crime (a robbery).

Five clues are given to the students and each clue (worksheet) allows them to eliminate 1-2 suspects.

Clue 1/ Hidden message - calculating area of rectangles

Clue 2/ Storing the treasure - irregular area 

Clue 3/ Blowing up the safe - calculating volume

Clue 4/ Track the criminal - cardinal direction, scale, measurement

Clue 5/ In time for crime - time/schedule 

Most students should be able to complete this in about 40mins (give or take 10mins).

Pack also includes 2 extension activities for early finishers

1/ Stop the bomb - number activity 

2/ Reward - design your house/room - Area activity

Clue 2/ Test of Wisdom: Adding and subtracting decimals.

Clue 3/ Kind of Heart: Fractions, decimals, percentages.

Clue 4/ Brave Soul: Adding fractions.

Clue 5/ Go the distance: Fractions, decimals, percentages.

I use these activities when we have a half day or a campus event that makes it hard for students to sit still and listen to a new topic/concept. It provided enough rigor to keep them learning combined with fun and opportunity to grow. I let students work in pairs or alone, depending on the energy level in the room.
