This CUBES Strategy Word Problem Practice focuses on the CUBES strategy and breaking down word problems to make them easier for students. Students get to practice word problems with Addition, Subtraction, and Multi-Step problems combining addition and subtraction both. There are 16 problems total that are set up on their individual pages with the CUBES checklist and room to work out the problems. These word problems using the CUBES Strategy are set up to be 2 to a page to save paper/ink when printing. They also are perfectly sized for placing in student notebooks!

Standards-aligned

I recently started using this in February with my students who needed extra support with word problems. It is so easy to use and follow along together. One student I was concerned about has really excelled using the CUBES strategy that I used it as my teacher observation lesson for math. It really helps to break down what students need to do in order to solve the problem. For those that need a task list in their accommodations, this is the way to go for math. I wish other math topics/lessons were taught with a similar strategy using this style of task list.

I love using these for practice and morning work when applying adding and subtracting with word problems. My higher students that have mastered the key words and actual math enjoy using the blank template to create a word problem for their classmate. It is is an easy way to differentiate. I also like that I can create word problems using student's names and situations that are relevant to them when creating word problems.

This is a great tool to use with students when solving word problems. However, I wish the template was editable so that we can add in our own word problems.
