The ‘CVC Onset and Rime Sliders’ have been designed to support students’ understanding of word families and oral blending. These skills further support students in reading and future spelling strategies. These sliders are perfect for use with students in Years K-2 and are an excellent resource to send home to parents for distance learning!
CVC Onset & Rime Sliders
- Includes 23 individual sliders
- Sliders cover all short vowels
o “Short a” (-at, -an, -ag, -ad, -an)
o “Short e” (-ed, -en, -eg, -et)
o “Short i” (-ip, -it, -in, -id, -ig)
o “Short o” (-ot, -op, -ob, -og)
o “Short u” (-ub, -um, -ug, -un, -ut)
- Used to support the Jolly Phonics Program or similar synthetic phonics program
- Simple, cost-effective tool/resource to send home with students (supporting distance learning)
- Suitable for Reading Intervention Programs and classroom use
- Electronic format to use with projector or Smartboard
PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS
In order to print the Sliders correctly, print ‘Single-Sided’. You will need to create cuts along the dotted lines to allow the “onset sliding letters” to pass through the “rime card”. Please refer to our Instagram for an example of the finished product (see link below).
We suggest laminating this resource or printing on higher GSM card to ensure they’re suitable for daily classroom use.
