Calculating Biodiversity Lab - Distance Learning
Share

Description

In this lab, students will collect macroinvertebrates in a virtual stream ecosystem and use the data to calculate the stream’s biodiversity index. The biodiversity index is calculated three times as students manipulate the stream's pollution levels. Finally, the analysis questions make sure the message hits home!

This lab is formatted so students can easily complete and submit in a virtual environment.

This was a great activity to help my students see biodiversity since we do not have an outdoor lab.

This was such an easy resource to use and did a great job of providing a visual and simple explanation for the effects of pollution on biodiversity. My students enjoyed trying to guess how many of each species would be caught in the net.
