Limits – Unit 1 Bundle

☼ 10 PowerPoint lessons to use to teach Limits – (see list below)

☼ Each lesson includes a self-grading google form for homework sets (printable version with key included with each one)

☼ Review PowerPoint that covers all 17 categories of problems for Review Day

☼ Self-grading Google Form Pre-Test of 28 questions for students to see how they’d do on the test before they take the actual test (printable version with key included)

☼ Self-grading Google Form TEST of 28 questions to end the unit (printable version with key included)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The pretest and test settings come with the questions and answer choices shuffled to help deter cheating. Every question is set a 4 points apiece. You can certainly delete whichever questions to keep the test length more appropriate and set the points for each question to whatever suits your needs.

PowerPoint Lessons Included:

0 ─ What is Calculus? Idea of a limit, derivative (differentiating polynomials), integral

1 ─ Guess the Derivative: Derivative of sin(x), cos(x), and e^x

2 ─ Limits: Tables and Graphs: one-sided limits

3 ─ Limits: Compositions: limits via compositions of graphs only

4 ─ Limits: Algebraically: factoring, conjugates, common denominators

5 ─ Limits: Asymptotes: limits with infinity

6 ─ Limits: Piecewise, Abs. Value

7 ─ Limits: Squeeze Theorem

8 ─ Limits: Continuity and Discontinuities: Solve for k to make g(x) continuous

9 ─ Limits: L’Hôpital Intro: restricted to polynomials, sin(x), cos(x), and e^x

10 ─ Limits: Definition of Derivative: Includes derivatives at a point x--> a, and derivatives of functions h-->0 of polynomials, radicals, and rationals. Derivative of sin(x), cos(x), and e^x are used in this lesson.

not found in this unit: IVT, trig identity limits, indeterminate form of ∞-∞

Limits were explained in a way that all of the students were able to understand! However there were a few typos that I wasn’t able to fix due to the lack of edit ability.
