Description
This Introduction to Riemann Sum Digital Matching with an additional printable assignment is a perfect way to introduce Riemann Sums to your Calculus students and have them visualize the areas and see how the curves are partitioned.
What's in the resource?
- 10 digital Slides. On each slide students are given the function, the interval, the number of partitions, and the method used to determine the partition. They analyze and determine which of four graphs matches these conditions. The methods of partitioning in this activity are right endpoint, left endpoint, and midpoint. Students are not finding the sum. Many of the examples can lead to good discussions as to why the wrong answers are not correct. The problems include a good mix or functions including polynomial, trig, square root, and absolute value functions.
- Printable follow-up activity with problems for students to sketch partitions based upon the right endpoint, left endpoint, and midpoint methods. The handout can be used as enrichment, homework, group work, or as an assessment.
- All Answer keys including a QR version of the answer key which you can project when students are finished for self checking. Students do not need to be on the internet to use the QR’s, but must have a device with a QR reader app installed.
- Digital and printable student recording sheets.
Note: You and your students must have access to the internet and have individual FREE Google Drive Accounts to use these resources.
