Description

You will enjoy the Calm Down Toolkit for Behavior Management to help with managing big emotions using nervous system hacks and social emotional techniques. Made to foster self-regulation in children and teens so that they can learn how to hack their own nervous system. All in a printable PDF made with your ease and choices in mind.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THESE HACKS!!! Believe me when I tell you that you will love how prepared you are for dealing with tantrums and/or freak outs with this resource. Please try this nervous system regulation toolkit. These are made to help you work through big emotions effectively with students. Our biology plays a huge role in emotions and how we manage them. Use these hacks to help the brain calm down and lead empathetic discussions with a student experiencing big emotions.

This resource is meant to use our biology, specifically our nervous system, in order to understand and regulate emotions. As an educator, we need effective yet gentle and empathy-fueled ways to address our students’ vastly different emotional needs. In this document, I want you to begin to understand polyvagal states, be able to identify the state of a students’ nervous system and choose a hack that can interrupt the patterns of their brain. Then, lead a discussion to address the emotion, its causes or triggers, and find a resolution.

I am not an expert in this matter! Just an educator trying to help parents, teachers and students move through emotions together. I believe almost every behavior can be tied to an emotion or a vagal state. If you would like to be the guide for a child to restore their own equilibrium, then grab this resource!

For a more complete explanation of the biology behind each hack consider buying the CALM DOWN/ NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION TOOLKIT.

INCLUDES:

  • Introduction to Polyvagal Theory & how the nervous system works
  • Summary of 6 big emotions typically seen by educators
  • Big Emotion Index (activities that work well for certain emotions)
  • 17 nervous system hack cards (9 hacks for students that are “too hot” and 8 for “too cold”)
  • An explanation of the biology behind each hack and discussion prompts
  • 2 printing options- full page or task cards
  • **NEW** Lanyard Set for all of the information on the go!

I am so happy to hear this! The resource has been made to share this information with a whole community (in and out of school). I love that students wanted to engage their parents too!
