Capitalization Practice
Share

Description

Mentor sentences, class practice, independent practice, and a summative quiz cover capitalization rules for the following:

  • the word "I" (including "I" in contractions
  • family roles
  • proper nouns and proper adjectives
  • days of the week, months of the year, and holidays--and a reminder that we DON'T capitalize seasons!

Sentences are ideal for upper elementary, middle school, and lower level high school, but I've included all high school grades and adult education because some students benefit from practicing with "easier" sentences that allow them to focus on the capitalization rule without being challenged by more complex syntax and content.

Packet is 9 pages in .PDF format. Answer key also provided for a total of 18 pages.

For additional capitalization work, see my other product Capitalization II, which covers capitalization of geographic names; planets, stars, and other heavenly bodies; historic events, periods, and documents; ships, trains, aircraft, and other structures; and official titles of people.

Great! I've taught skills in context, but it always helps to build in a little focused practice :)
