Capture the Flag is a fun twist on the roll and read games, and my students love it! In this print and go game/activity, students earn or 'capture' flags as they roll and read words and sentences that focus on specific phonics skills. Player with the most flags wins the game. Great for literacy centers, small groups, and tutoring.

This version of Capture the Flag focuses on Beginning 'R' Blends. Two games are included in this download. One game is a roll and read game with 36 different WORDS containing Beginning 'R' Blends. And the other game is a roll and read game with 36 different SENTENCES using words containing Beginning 'R' Blends. Each game contains 6 unique game cards, and the flags included with game provide a visual reminder of the phonics skill students are learning or practicing.

Differentiation is easy with multiple Capture the Flag games! Because all game cards look the same, with the exception of the phonics skill being practiced, students can play together while working on different skills. One student can be playing with a Short Vowel game card while another student can be playing with a Digraphs

game board, etc. Object of the game remains the same – to get ‘X’ number of flags first.
