Learning Goal

• Students will be able to: Compare and contrast the structure and function of major organelles of plant and animal cells, including cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, mitochondria, and vacuoles.

Cell Organelle Worksheet

• Part 1: Students will use a word bank to match the cell organelles with the correct functions.

Cell Organelle Campaign Activity

• Students are in charge of running a campaign for a specific cell organelle. This organelle is running for the spot to take over the Nucleus' job in controlling the cell's functions. The voters will have the last say in which organelle is crowned “Controller of ALL” Group must argue why their candidate (organelle) is the most qualified to run the cell’s functions. Their job is to convince the voters that, without their candidate (organelle), the cell, the organism, and the world as we know it will collapse.
