Description

A very simple lab for observing cells in the biological laboratory.

Teacher/Instructor will need to setup different stations for students to observe various specimens. There are 4 Post Lab questions at the end. The resource is editable to fit your needs!

I used this for my Biology I classes, both CP and Honors as an introductory lab to cells and the microscope. I had 10 stations for groups of students to rotate. There was a microscope at each station with the specimen ready to be observed. I had flashcards at each station that identified the specimen as well as magnification used. My students enjoyed the lab and had a better understanding of cells and the microscope as a result!

NGSSHS-LS1-2
Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms. Emphasis is on functions at the organism system level such as nutrient uptake, water delivery, and organism movement in response to neural stimuli. An example of an interacting system could be an artery depending on the proper function of elastic tissue and smooth muscle to regulate and deliver the proper amount of blood within the circulatory system. Assessment does not include interactions and functions at the molecular or chemical reaction level.
