Biology: End of the Year Project Packet

It's the end of the school year and, as educators, we need something to keep our students engaged but focused. This package includes several projects with little to no prep or grading on your part. You can provide students with multiple options by creating a choice board or only assigning a specific option. The package includes nine (9) student led projects (two escape room versions - one premade and one student developed option) with rubrics and answer keys (see below). Purchase this package fo

Cellular Reproduction Carousel/Station Activity (Based on Cartoon Notes)

The Cellular Reproduction Carousel activity is designed to accompany student cartoon notes on Cellular Reproduction. Each station will address Interphase, Binary Fission, Mitosis, Meiosis, Sexual vs. Asexual Reproduction, and Genetic Continuity. Allow students to use their notes at each station. It is suggested to provide copies of each handout at all stations (or upload them to a LMS). According to Scientific America (2024), handwriting is best for learning, memory, and recall. Laminate or use c

Chemical Equations Bundle

This Chemical Equations bundle includes several opportunities for your students to practice building directly from naming compounds. It begins with writing skeletal equations (no balancing needed) to balancing those equations. Then students learn about types of reactions where they then predict products based on reaction type. Finally students learn how to use the activity series and solubility chart to write ionic equations. Each activity also includes an answer key. Included with this bundle

Ecology: Biodiversity & Populations Activity (GSE.SEV1a)

In this activity students navigate through four station activities comparing habitats, invasive species, impacts of pollutions, and climate change. This activity is a file folder that includes four documents; three Google Docs and one presentation. The Google Docs are various forms of the Student Handout, the original, a preview with a sample of the student handout and the one of the images and the teacher answer key. The third Google Doc is the Answer Key. The presentation provided is the colle

Experience

17+ years of experience in science education, 8+ years coaching secondary education in CTAE, Health/PE, and all core areas (science, math, social studies, and language arts). My area of focus in coaching is developing engaging activities and assessments, deconstructing standards, differentiating instruction, and using data to inform their instruction.

Teaching style

My preferred teaching style is collaborative learning where students work together with the teacher acting as a facilitator of their learning. During this process, the teacher provides no more than 15 minutes of direct instruction (lecture or whole group) while allowing students to work in small groups to progress towards mastery of the standards.

My own education history

Additional biographical information

I am a mother of four; three who have graduated college and one who will be graduating high school soon. My oldest is a software engineer, then a registered nurse, and an elementary school teacher. I recently left public school with my last role as an instructional coach, but I will always have a passion for developing engaging activities for students. TPT will keep me connected to education!
