Description
This compressed folder contains a variety of documents designed to help introduce the concept of Characterization.
First you will find a detailed lesson plan that was written with the new Common Core and Ohio Evaluation System in mind.
Next there is a pre-assessment to discover what your students already know about characterization. This information can help plan your unit of study. This pre-assessment also has space for a quick post assessment following the lesson.
Then you will find a SmartBoard Presentation and guided notes sheet for students. The presentation covers the types of characterization (Direct and Indirect) and it also provides a mnemonic device and examples to help students retain the information taught.
The lesson describes showing a video clip. You may choose any video clip that you desire. The goal is to find a clip that is about 5 minutes long and has a complex character presented. In the past, I have found that using clips from superhero movies appeals to the interest of most of my students. My favorite video clip is from Captain America.
