Description
Check In Check Out programs are a great add to a student's day, especially if they are in need for that extra guidance to have a great day. Check In Check out programs are part of a Tier II intervention stemmed from PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). This program allows the student work closely with a preferred adult in the beginning and end of the day to help them stay on track and focused on being successful in school. Behaviors should be reviewed each morning and afternoon in a positive-based discussion on how the student can be successful. Students also have increased accountability for their behavior as they check in with their teachers to ensure they are meeting the expectations. Have the students bring their Check In Check Out sheet home to increase school-to-home, teacher-parent, partnerships and communication.
This Check In Check Out Sheet is a great template for teachers to adjust to meet their students needs. As part of my program, students are prompted to complete six different behaviors in order to earn their points. The goal for percentage earned should be tailored to the students ability level; however, mastery is always seen around 80%.
Ways to personalize this sheet to meet your needs:
- adjust behavior expectations (how would your students earn their points? what are the behaviors they need to work on and improve?)
- adjust times for check in
- adjust how many behaviors they are working on and how many points they are (typically each behavior is one point)
