Check Register Mini Project

A fun way to actively engage students in learning.

Students can be assigned to work individually or in small groups.

Each individual / group randomly selects a stack of income / expense cards. Each individual / group uses the information contained on the cards to complete a check register that shows their expected income and expenditures for the month. At times the students will have to make spending choices that will raise or lower expenses.

Once student complete the check register they need to complete the tables below and write an equation to check their answer.

Checkbook Beginning Balance + Income - Expenses

Challenge students further by having them select one or two Game of Life Cards. As in life, things change and they will need to adjust their projections accordingly.

Students that complete the challenge activity will need a second copy of the Financial History Worksheet.
