This is a 4-week project to teach students about balancing a checkbook. Start by having each student pick a career/salary to determine how much they get paid weekly. Then have them find an apartment/rent and a car payment. (For a modification, pick this out for the student). Determine dates of payments for the month.

You will need:

1) blank checkbook register

2) blank checks/deposit slips

3) grocery store flyers (can also be looked up online)

4) blank sales slips/receipts

You will also need a separate spreadsheet to keep track of each student's checkbook so that when you collect them at the end of the week, they should match.
