Description
Use these Christmas-themed In and Out Tables (Function Tables) task cards during the month of December. Students practice addition and subtraction, and gain a better understanding of inverse operation through these types of activities. Use them in your math center, for early finishers, during small group work, or use them one at a time with your whole class. They’re great for sub tubs, too! A Student Recording Sheet with answer key is included.
Also included is a blank template for you to create your own function tables, or even better, challenge your students to create their own!

Completing “Function Tables” or “In and Out Tables” can be time consuming, so I will often present only a few cards at a time for students to complete. I’ve also placed them in the math center for students to work on throughout the month, giving them as much time as they need. For those students who become overwhelmed, you might want to assign one card at a time. Please have a look at the Student Recording Sheet in the preview. You’ll get a better idea of how you’d like to differentiate the assignment for your class.
Simply print out the cards, cut, and laminate. I mount each card on to cardstock or construction paper before laminating, to make them extra sturdy. This particular set of task cards is a bit larger which makes the text easy to read, and easier for little hands to hold. For that reason, I store card sets like these in a two-pocket folder along with the Student Recording Sheets.
No Color Printer? No Problem! The cards can certainly be printed in grayscale. Saves a lot of ink, too!
