Description

Engage your students in a real world Christmas Math Activity!

This Christmas Math Project is a project based learning task. This project requires students to read in the content area (local grocery/retail store flyers and/or online advertisements) to plan for their Christmas Day festivities (meals, gifts and decorations) within a certain budget. Students are required to make healthy choices for their meals on a budget. They are also given a budget to buy gifts and decorations. Students will need to reflect upon and explain their decisions for meal, gift and decoration choices (critical thinking). They are asked to analyze and synthesize their decisions. This Christmas Math Project shows students how the Math they use in the classroom has application in the real world.

Included in this package are: teacher directions, student directions, student costing sheets, student reflection sheets and an assessment rubric.

Other than collecting your local store flyers (or student access to online ads), there is no other prep involved.

Please Note: This project is similar to our Thanksgiving Math Project. If you have purchased the Thanksgiving Math Project, you will find it mimics the same types of activities in task and structure.
