"My students loved this resource. It was engaging and used in a center rotation on a RARE (reteaching day). A ready made activity with no prep. A purchase that was worth the money! A great activity that is reflective of a TEXAS 7th grade TEK."

Description

This set contains 24 cards, a recording sheet, and an answer key for easy checking! The set of task cards was designed for my Math 5/6 class and it covers VA Math SOL 6.14, Circle Graphs - (Common Core Standard 6.RP.3c and 6.SP.1).

Task cards are an awesome resource for math centers, “SCOOT” games, independent practice, test prep, enrichment, and other cooperative learning models.

I recommend printing in color on cardstock or other quality paper, then laminating for year-after-year use.

In this activity, students will practice the following skills:

• Drawing conclusions about data represented in a circle graph

• Calculating the percentages or number values based on a whole given a circle graph

The Circle Graph Task Cards were a fantastic resource for helping my 6th graders practice interpreting and analyzing data from circle graphs. The cards were clear, visually appealing, and covered a great range of questions, including finding percentages, comparing sections, and drawing conclusions based on the data. Students were engaged because the task cards allowed for movement around the room, group work, or even independent practice depending on how I set it up. I loved that the problems varied in difficulty, making it easy to differentiate for students who needed a challenge or extra support. The format encouraged students to slow down and really read each graph carefully, which helped build important test-taking skills too. Overall, the Circle Graph Task Cards made practicing data analysis much more interactive and fun, and they provided strong, standards-based practice that fit perfectly into our statistics unit. I’ll definitely keep using them in rotations, review days, and even for quick formative assessments!

My students enjoy getting up and moving around. This was good practice. Some of the questions my students struggled to understand what it was asking - but overall was good.

Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, “How old am I?” is not a statistical question, but “How old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity); solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
