Description

All math teachers wish their students would be better at factoring. Your students will get great practice with this essential skill as they work through the circuit. These 20 mixed factoring problems involve every kind of factoring from GCF to sum and difference of cubes. The problems are progressive in nature, and students must hunt for one of their factors to advance in the circuit. The last problem can not be factored, however, because the final answer is showing, students can use synthetic division or long division to reduce the polynomial. THEN it can be factored.

My students love the circuit format! They stay engaged, they talk and discuss, they lean over effortlessly to help each other. The only prep you have to do as a teacher is work the circuit ahead of your students so you understand the unpacking of the idea. The circuit takes care of the rest!

Thank you for the great resource. Students that finished their factoring practice first were up for this challenge.

This "advanced" factoring worksheet has polynomials with lead coefficient not= to 1. Also, sum and difference of cubes and factoring by parts. It's a good review of those topics, but it isn't what I need right now. I need factoring trig functions and factoring with rational exponents. Still looking for that!

I feel like someone wrote a free factoring with trig functions circuit and I posted it. Factoring with rational exponents — now that would be a exciting! Not sure how to make a good circuit there since the factors themselves might be a give away…

Loved having a resource that involved difficult factoring problems. I used it with an Accelerated Algebra II class and it was a perfect review of all that we have covered.
