Description

Keep your students engaged as they practice simplifying algebraic expressions that call for knowledge of exponent rules. This circuit contains 24 questions where students will have to multiply, divide, and raise expressions to a power. The problems get progressively harder so there is even some combining like terms at the end. I wrote this circuit to use with my algebra one students before we tackle negative exponents, so there are no negative exponents on this circuit.

I do not include answer keys with my work since the answers are embedded in the circuit (it is how the students move from one problem to the next). The only prep the teacher needs to do is work the circuit ahead of time to understand the unpacking of the idea. The circuit and the students will take care of the rest!

My colleagues and I check these circuits very carefully, but if you ever find a mistake, please message me.

My students really enjoy circuit trainings because it allows them to self-check as they progress and it allows me the opportunity to work with individual students as needed.

Used as a warm-up for Algebra II section on exponents and radicals. What I loved the most was listening to the discussions and debates that happened as they worked on these in pairs. Thanks!
