No, a textbook is not required. This unit is designed to be used on its own or as a supplement to a textbook or other curriculum. Instead of relying on a textbook, students are building their own textbook with their interactive notebooks that include all the information they need- vocabulary, important people, events, and big ideas. I’ve included a primary document analysis activity in each unit.

This notebook helped keep my students engaged while studying the Civil War. I had to get away from the textbook because it is just too dry.

I come back to buy your packets again and again. They are wonderful for Special Education classrooms. The variety of options for each lesson gives me a lot of flexibility to support my students depending on both their skill level and how long we have to complete each unit. Interactive Notebooks have worked well for me and I especially like the ones from this seller.
