Description

Challenge your students to survive "The Which One Won't Kill You Game!" This game is the perfect way to get even the least motivated students into a unit on classification of living things. Students will be challenged to select which organisms they think are harmless, all while learning about venomous, poisonous, or dangerous organisms. Upon selecting each organism, students learn more information about the individual species they selected and just how deadly it can be. This game can of course be used for a fun lesson, but this is a must-have game if you are struggling introducing topics such as classification, binomial nomenclature, taxonomy, and the importance of sharing biological information.

PowerPoint Includes:

  • Teacher directions and background
  • 10 different interactive rounds to play
  • Bonus reflection activity with fun facts to help lead into your unit
  • Student writing prompt

Note: Since switching to NGSS, I have personally struggled finding the best phenomena to kick off my units or lessons. I was looking for something more than a picture to capture attention and spark conversation. I could not get them to stop talking about this game I created, as it gave them purpose behind our classification of living things unit.
