Description

⭐ This 4th grade geometry math escape room is a fun and effective way to practice points, lines, line segments, rays, angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, and classifying shapes! Students will identify geometric figures, recognize acute, obtuse, and right angles, analyze parallel and perpendicular lines, and classify shapes based on attributes as they navigate the big city to catch the bandit. Custom videos help tell the story along the way, making this printable and digital geometry activity an engaging and immersive experience.

"While you were out in the big city, a bandit took some money out of your backpack! Can you follow the bandit through the city and get your money back?"

🚨 The chase is on! To catch the bandit, students must travel through the big city while completing four exciting geometry challenges. As they chase the bandit from the waterfront to Chinatown, the park, and downtown, they will solve a series of 4th grade geometry problems. Each challenge must be completed correctly before students can unlock the code and move forward. With each correct code, students uncover a new clue, follow the bandit’s trail, and get closer to cracking the case.

This activity aligns with CCSS 4.G.A.1 and 4.G.A.2, but it can be used in any classroom to practice the following math skills:

✅ Identifying points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles

✅ Distinguishing between acute, obtuse, and right angles

✅ Identifying parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines

✅ Recognizing angle types within two-dimensional shapes

✅ Classifying shapes based on attributes

✅ Sorting shapes by sides, angles, equal side lengths, and parallel sides

✅ Using geometric clues to identify and classify shapes

✅ Solving multiple-choice geometry problems using critical thinking

⭐ This 4th grade geometry math escape room comes in the following digital and printable formats.

  • Webscape Format—This web-based format offers an interactive, immersive experience. It is self-directed, self-correcting, and contains audio. CLICK HERE to try it for yourself! You won't believe how engaging this format is until you try it.

  • Google Format—Students complete the exercises in Google Slides. The Bandit Decoder is a Google Sheet that self-corrects and tells each student when to continue to the next challenge.

  • Printable Format—Students can scan QR codes on any device to watch the videos. If no device is available, students can skip the videos and still enjoy the exercise. Students use a printable Factory Decoding Tool and answer sheet to decipher the clues and track their answers.

This bandit-themed math escape room is a no-prep, print-and-go, or digital activity that keeps students engaged while reviewing standard-based geometry skills. Say goodbye to boring worksheets and hello to an exciting math adventure!

⭐ Integrated videos, themed challenge cards, secret codes, and a fun 'catch-the-bandit' back story come together to engage students while developing and reviewing 4th grade geometry skills.

The Webscape and Google Slides versions are self-grading; however, they are designed to require critical thinking. Students are NOT told which answers are incorrect to prevent guessing and encourage students to think critically about the clues and their responses.

*Please note: The Google Slides format includes embedded videos that are hosted via YouTube. The printable version includes QR codes for these videos. If you plan to use Google or printable formats, please ensure that you and your students have access to YouTube. The Webscape version does not require YouTube.
