Description
This lesson can be used as an introduction to classifying or as a follow-up lesson adding definitions to classifying rational numbers. This lesson is focused on dividing every fraction (ratio) so to get students converting fractions to decimals to see if there is a remainder. If there is a remainder (part of a number) then it stays as a rational number. If no remainder, then it can go into a subset of rational numbers.
Fold the left and right sides to the center to make 2 'doors'. Then have the students cut 6 'windows'. I have them cut off the top 2 'windows'.
I like to print lessons and activities on different colors of paper.
6.2A Classify whole numbers, integers, and rational numbers using a visual representation such as a Venn diagram to describe relationships between sets of numbers.
