Work on reading skills while exploring informational texts about climate change, greenhouse gasses, laws related to protecting the environment, and more.
Work on writing skills while creating infographics about climate change or reporting on research findings.
Work on math skills while analyzing climate data and graphing changes.
Work on science/STEAM skills while exploring different causes of climate change, how it differs from global warming, the effects of climate change on people, plants, and animals, and more.
Work on social studies skills while exploring jobs related to global conservation, laws and organizations related to climate, and more.
**Informational texts are not included in this unit. What is included are the planning guides and resources to use texts on your students' levels. PhenomBL is student-centered so texts will should be based on the needs of individual classes and students.
About Phenomenon-Based Learning:
Phenomenon-based learning is an instructional strategy used successfully in Finland (largely based on research from experts in the US) which allows students to go deeper in their understanding of the content. In the US, we call it “interdisciplinary studies” or "cross curricular” but it is really much bigger than that.
