Description

Close reading is the repeated reading of a text. Each time you read the text you are reading for a different purpose. This text is designed to be used at least three times in a week. You could use it everyday if you wanted to break apart some of the following activities. Each article meets one of the Florida Science Standards. The Lexiles range from 190-490. This is well within the stretch band for first grade. The first few weeks we do one responding page as a class so the children become familiar with the format. We complete it as a guided writing type activity.

There are 18 passages covering basic inquiry, animal and plants needs, earth and space, and land changes. There is a responding sheet that corresponds with each passage. Also there are 5 vocabulary words for each passage with vocabulary study sheet and activities.
