You know that short week before the holiday break....trying to keep the students engaged and not doing busy work can be hard. Kids will enjoy these coding activities as well as learn coding skills.

Activity one goes great with Dav Pilkey's Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving. After a read aloud and a short introduction to binary coding the kids will be walking around the room to answer questions and crack the code.

Activity two goes with any holiday or day. This one is map skills related. Students will learn graph paper programming. This is a great lesson for following directions! I love using this lesson to help reinforce map symbols, map legend or key, and most importantly following directions. Plus they learn coding skills as a bonus!
