Description

This activity (based on ngss standards ) simplifies the complex and often perplexing task of DNA replication, RNA transcription, and amino acid translation. Students can make their own amino acid decoder using cardboard, a push pin and the printed sheet. Included are lesson plans, examples with pictures, review questions to check for understanding, and a key. While this activity can be adapted for all levels, it is ideal for english language learners and students with disabilities. No prep is needed. All you must do is print!

I used some of the questions and the decoder to practice identifying amino acids. This wasn't a huge part of the lesson in our book and this activity was set up really well to use all or parts of it as needed! I did a Loom video to explain the decoder. Seems to be working well. It is today's activity and the ones who are finished said they found it simple enough to understand once they watched the video. Great Resource!
