Description

Colonial Virginia Task Cards are a no-prep, fun way to review agriculture and tobacco, cultural groups in colonial Virginia, race-based enslavement in Virginia, colonial economics, and the relocation of the capital to Williamsburg. 

Colonial Virginia Task Cards includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are multiple choice, multiple select, matching, and labeling a map. 

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Colonial Virginia Task Cards, students will review:

  • how the culture of colonial Virginia reflected the culture of Indigenous people, European immigrants (English, Germans, and Scots-Irish, and Africans)
  • where cultural groups settled on a map of Virginia
  • the differences between indentured servants and enslaved people
  • laws that established race-based enslavement
  • the reasons for relocating Virginia’s capital from Jamestown to Williamsburg
  • the importance and influence of agriculture
  • how Virginia’s cash crop (tobacco) contributed to race-based enslavement
  • The ways people exchanged goods and services in colonial Virginia

These Colonial Virginia Task Cards are specifically aligned with the 2023 Virginia Studies SOL VS.4.

Is a digital version included?

These Colonial Virginia Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.

When you purchase this product, you will be given access to a link that will allow you to open the file in Google Forms. You’ll then share that file with your students.

What if I want to create my own social studies task cards?

Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.
