Use mapping and inquiry based learning to teach colonialism. This worksheet features a brief excerpt from Howard Zinn's, "A People's History of the United States" to introduce a broad definition of a colony. Students then use inquiry to draw conclusions about list of contemporary countries apart of the British Commonwealth and the United States' Territories.

NOTE: Ideally, students will use a world map to assist in understanding the location of each country.
