Description

These simple color by code for Christmas math and art projects are a favorite in my first grade classroom because they turn into 3D paper crafts! There are 5 different designs, each with two mixed addition / subtraction levels. After completing math equations, students cut and glue to make characters stand up all by themselves!

For more challenge and accountability, students record equations on the lines at the bottom.

Each Stand Up art project is simple to construct, and uses only one page per student for quick and easy teacher prep! A cute way to practice core math skills in your math centers, these simple art projects interactive, versatile, and fun!

Directions: Super Easy To Assemble!

  1. Complete the math answers and color.
  2. Write any 10 equations in the bottom spaces (optional).
  3. Cut out, apply glue where indicated, and glue ends together (to make a cylinder) so characters stand up all by themselves! You're done!

Includes two different levels for the same pictures.

NOTE: The "how to make" preview video above (making the rainbow frog stand up) is not in this resource but simply an example of how to constuct any of the Stand Ups. The cute frog is included in the "Springtime" pack, and the simple process is the same for all the seasonal themes!

Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
