Description

I created this resource to give teachers an easy, visual way to help students strengthen their reading comprehension and text evidence skills. The color-coding strategy makes it simple for students to identify story elements, such as characters, problems, and solutions, while keeping them engaged with short, kid-friendly passages.

I hope you’ll find, as I have, that this straightforward activity helps students become more confident readers—able to cite evidence, make connections, and understand story structure more deeply.

This resource includes:

• 4 short, engaging reading passages
• Color-code prompts for story elements (characters, problem, solution, cause, effect)
• Simple directions on each page
• Opportunities for students to write in complete sentences
• Perfect for small groups, centers, or independent practice
• Print-and-go format—no prep required!

Teacher Friendly!

Just print and go! Perfect for centers, homework, or early finishers.
