Description
The first hurdle for my students when learning trig is identifying the sides of a right triangle in relation to a reference angle. A student who has all of the trig ratios memorized will still struggle if they can’t identify which side is opposite, adjacent, or the hypotenuse. This is a color coding activity where students identify the sides of a triangle given a reference angle. There are a variety of triangle shapes and orientations for kids to analyze. I find spending 10 minutes on this the first day of my trig unit makes things go much smoother for the rest of the unit!
